Alex Wang on Live Stream, Die Antwoord in attendance.

Loved this collection. Lisbeth Salader wannabes take note. Lots of offerings here.

Start off with a gorgeous overstuffed shiny puffy vest with shiny leather opera gloves.

The trench coats were amazing, asymmetrical, half blazer- half trench bullet proof leather coverings with just enough movement in the lapels and slits to feel effortless despite their incredible toughness.  There was also a key theory of high slits, so gracefully --and enviously-- exhibited by the one and only Giselle Bundchen.

This was a screen capture I took from the livestream. This model is staring into a mirror here so you can see both the front and the back of this look in this one shot.  Look how her hair loops into the back of the coat... its just amazing.

Die Antwoord (the South African "rap/rave group") below --WHO I JUST SAW IN PHILLY LAST NIGHT at the TrocaderoYolandi is perfect for Wang's alien- chic aesthetic, so I suppose it was only a matter of time.

Pixels

I like the idea of wearing  all the zig- zagginess of a pixeled edge... a lot of this going around.

Digital Repeats

Just wanted to update this post with yesterday's FW 12 Helmut Lang Show :

seems to go so nicely with what I had written before... :)

Found this image today on AnOtherMag.com
Photo by Marco Brambilla titled "Flashback (POV), 2010."

This is from Anthro:

I love this. you take the prettiest picture you have ever seen and you just make it repeat over an over again, like old movie film when it has reached the end of a roll. You don't try to blend or modify the image to make it work it in a repeating manner. you just accept the square and the edges as they were as part of the design.

I noticed this at Cults as well. As they are originally film students, their concerts occasionally have a beautiful video component that they work on together.

They did a lot of the same type of repetition in images for an equally interesting effect.

I loved how they created pixelated images at Cults as well.
just blowing them out and playing with the overlap of squares and abstract colors.

Lace and other things...

and i love the idea of mixing in a little neon...

and wearing it with some edgy pearls:

And a shift to something a little more sultry... modern lace framed in geometry

also a fine emerald green...
